AML Foods Launches Food Recovery Donation Program to Support Communities Across The Bahamas

September 16th, 2026

Building on its commitment to helping eliminate hunger in The Bahamas, AML Foods Limited announced the launch of its new Food Recovery Donation Program, an initiative aimed at reducing food waste while providing support to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. The donations are expected to total half a million dollars annually.

Operating across all Solomon’s, Solomon’s Fresh Market, Family Island Markets, and Cost Right locations, the program will provide partner feeding organizations with food products that can no longer be sold but remain safe for consumption. The initiative creates a structured and sustainable solution that reduces food waste and helps address food insecurity in communities in New Providence, Grand Bahama, Exuma and Eleuthera.

To facilitate the collection and distribution process, each AML Foods’ store has been partnered with a designated charity. Recipient organizations will collect donations daily from their assigned store, ensuring that good food reaches those who need it most in a timely manner. These organizations include the Bahamas Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Bahamas Feeding Network, Hands for Hunger, Kingdom Living Outreach Ministry in Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera, the Church of God’s Pantry in Harbour Island, and the Exuma Foundation.

“This program reflects AML Foods’ ongoing commitment to supporting the communities it serves while taking meaningful steps to reduce food waste and promote sustainability”, said Renea Bastian, VP of Marketing & Communications. “We recognize that food insecurity remains a challenge for many individuals and families across our country. Our plan allows us to partner with community organizations to redirect wholesome food that can no longer be sold but remains safe for consumption, ensuring it reaches families, seniors, shelters, and others struggling to access nutritious meals.”

Representatives from the participating charities have welcomed the initiative, noting that regular access to donated food products will help strengthen their ability to provide ongoing assistance within their communities. AML Foods extends its sincere appreciation to all participating organizations for their partnership and shared commitment to improving lives throughout The Bahamas.
